How Long Will Your Results Last?
What to Expect During Treatment
Results depends on several factors, including your skin type, strength of the peel and how well you care for your skin after treatment. On average, you can expect the results to last anywhere from several months to a year. To prolong your peel's benefits, follow these essential aftercare tips:
-
Cleanse your face daily to keep skin free from impurities.
-
Moisturise regularly to maintain softness and suppleness.
-
Always wear sunscreen with at least SPF 30.
Before your peel, it's crucial to prepare your skin for optimal results. Arrive at your appointment without makeup and avoid using any active skincare products for at least three days prior. I will carefully prep skin with an alcohol wipe and apply the peel in multiple layers. You might feel a mild tingling sensation, but the process is generally comfortable and pain-free. As the peel is applied, your skin may temporarily change colour - this is perfectly normal and part of the process.
Special Care For Darker Skin Tones
If you have a darker skin tone, it’s important to take extra precautions to avoid post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). Preconditioning your skin with a melanin inhibitor, such as our Fade Bright or a hydroquinone product, for at least four weeks before your peel can significantly reduce this risk. After your peel, continue using these products alongside sun protection to help your skin heal and maintain its radiant appearance. In cases of deeper peels, where PIH may develop as your skin heals, using non-inflammatory acid peels like salicylic or mandelic acid can help treat and minimize pigmentation issues.
Tailored Peel Strengths Are Suitable for Every Skin Type

Chemical Peels: Frequently Asked Questions
How many chemical peels will I need to see results? The number of treatments can vary depending on your skin type, concerns and the strength of the peel used. Some will see improvements after just one session; others may require a series of treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, to achieve their desired results. I'll create a personalised treatment plan tailored to your needs.
Can I combine with other treatments? Yes, they are often combined with other treatments like micro-needling, laser therapy or facials to enhance overall results. However, it’s important to space these appropriately and consult with me to ensure it is safe and effective.
What should I avoid after my chemical peel? After a peel, it’s essential to avoid direct sun exposure, strenuous exercise and using any abrasive skincare products or treatments that might irritate your skin. Stick to a gentle skincare routine, and keep your skin well-hydrated and protected with sunscreen.
Is there any downtime after a chemical peel? Downtime can vary depending on the strength of the peel. Lighter peels may require little to no downtime, while deeper peels can result in several days of redness, peeling, and sensitivity. Generally, medium-depth peels involve about 7-14 days of healing, during which your skin will gradually shed and regenerate.
