Thread/Spider Vein Treatment

Spider veins lie close to the surface of the skin and often appear as unsightly, jagged patterns resembling spider webs (hence their name). The good news is they can now be effectively treated with radio-frequency, using a laser beam of light to ablate the blood vessel while sparing the surrounding tissue, including the melanin. With minimal side effects, the treatment is safe and predictable, and the mild, brief discomfort is definitely worth it!

Spider Vein Treatment

Our advanced radio frequency treatment uses ultra-high frequency electromagnetic oscillation at 30MHz. Here's how it works:

  • Precision Application: A soft silk thread, thinner than a hair, delivers the treatment in micro-dots, breaking the haemoglobin in the spider veins within 1/1000 of a second.

  • Energy Transfer: The energy is released onto the skin's surface and absorbed by the skin tissue.

  • Breaking Down: The treatment breaks down the haemoglobin, capillaries, and lesions into small molecules, permanently removing the red blood vessels.

  • Natural Healing: The high RF energy coagulates the skin tissue almost instantly. The treated tissue is naturally removed within 3-7 days.

This effective treatment can also address hyperplasia, age spots, sunburn, pigmented lesions, blood capillaries and skin tags. Enjoy a clearer, smoother complexion with minimal side effects and quick recovery.

What Causes Spider Veins?

  • Genetics play a significant role in their development.

  • As you age, your skin becomes thinner and loses some of its natural elasticity, making veins more visible.

  • Fluctuations in hormone levels, particularly oestrogen, can weaken vein walls. This is common during pregnancy, menopause or when taking hormone-based medications.

  • Consuming alcohol and caffeine can dilate blood vessels, making spider veins more likely to form.

  • Excessive sun exposure can damage the skin and blood vessels, contributing to their development, especially noticeable on the face.

  • Occupations or activities that require prolonged standing or sitting can increase pressure in your leg.

  • Excess body weight adds pressure to your veins. Spider veins can sometimes be an early sign of more significant venous diseases, including varicose veins.

  • Previous blood clots or injuries to the veins can also result in spider veins.

Thread/Spider Vein Treatment FAQs

What does the treatment involve? You will typically need 1-2 treatments. During your initial consultation, we’ll chat through exactly what you’ would like the end result to be. This will include looking at the areas of concern and setting out a plan. The treatment itself involves emitting a laser beam of light on the area; the blood vessel is ablated while surrounding tissues, including melanin, are spared. With minimal side effects, the treatment is safe and predictable.

Does it hurt? You may experience brief, mild discomfort but patients have said this is well worth it for the results.

What about other treatments? Many clinics will provide some form of skin light therapy similar to the treatment of pigmentation or skin spots. However, spider veins do not react well to these procedures because they resemble little streams that are connected to bigger streams/rivers further up. Closing the small stream without first closing the source of the stream will just allow for more flows to form later.

How much does it cost? You will need 1 -2 sessions dependent upon the area to be treated and you should expect the investment to be between £100-£500. We can discuss this in your consultation.
